Professor Jun-Woo Kim of Inha University, who moved to academia after working in bioprocessing at CJ CheilJedang, said, “Biomanufacturing involves complex, interconnected stages such as fermentation, purification, and drying, yet the field still lacks sufficient data and standardization. If AI can automate process design and operation, small and medium-sized enterprises and startups will also be able to access advanced biomanufacturing technologies.”

“I hope to continue conducting research that bridges industry and academia. My primary interest lies in applied research and development that translates the latest academic advances into practical industrial applications. Currently, my goal is to develop biomanufacturing process technologies and AI-based approaches for process design and operation. As new technologies and trends emerge in the future, I hope to explore them quickly and develop practical solutions that can contribute to industry.”
